Olympic Shopping?

Our first stop this morning was the Olympic Park. It was in a different zone than our travel card allowed us to go, so our concierge suggested we get off at the last stop in the zone we could be in and walk the rest of the way. Well, when we got on the last train, it didn't stop where we wanted to get off, so we ended up in an illegal zone. Would we get fined? Sorry, no drama. We explained our predicament to the station employee and she opened a gate and told us just walk in!

But, unfortunately we couldn't see much of the Olymlic Park it was like a ghost town. The had it all blocked off and workers were disassembling and cleaning up.Wow-what a job! We guessed that they didn't want people wandering all over while they were trying to clean up.

How convenient that right next to Olympic Park was a big mall! They have several stores that are the same as us or the US, like Forever 21, The Body Shop, Boots Drugs, HMV, The Gap. The employees are probably happy to breathe again, while the owners are sorry to see all the business go.

Our next stop was Harrod's. I had never been inside and was curious. That visit lasted about 10 minutes! We were hoping to find a t shirt for Cornie. Wow, out of our league! The men's casual section was not our definition of casual. I guess the doorman should have been a clue. We did see the very interesting Egyptian hallway as we rode the escalator up and down a few floors. We just did not feel comfortable inside!

When we got back to our hotel, we googled Walmart and Target to find our league of shopping :) can you believe they don't have those on London!

This evening we checked out Hard Rock Cafe for another delicious meal. And now it's time to pack up what we can. Our new adventure begins tomorrow morning when the alarm goes off at 4:30, that's 10:30 pm for you today! Our curiosity about our travel companions will end, but I'm sure the new stories will continue.

PS can someone email me to explain how I can move the pictures around or put two side by side. I can't figure out how to manipulate them. Actually any emails are welcome. We look forward to connections with home every time we get back to our hotel room.

Good Night!

  2. Sounds like you're having a great time in Jolly Old England, I can't believe there's no Target there! I guess Grand Forks isn't as bad as we thought, though they don't have the Eiffel Tower there. Wow does it ever look spectacular! Keep taking awesome pictures and telling stories, it's very enjoyable. - Darlene
