Deutschland!

Fall colors were striking as we drove through the Black Forest today!

In the valley, we stopped for lunch and a short explanation of how kukoo clocks are made. The movement is made in Switzerland and the other parts are made by hand in Germany. Wood carvings on a clock may be made by more than one person. They specialize in making certain animal or leaf carvings, etc. then they are put together. The kukoo sound is made with two different accordian type things (I forget what they are called) that have different tones. We bought one! (In Vienna, where it was $50 less) It is a cute Hansel and Gretel house.

The building we were in was like a big kukoo clock. On the hour, it chimes and the dancers turn around to the tune, "Es liegt eine Muelle im Schwarzwaeldertal". (The song has been in my head all day.)

Heidelberg is a lovely city. We had a short stop there to stroll the pedestrian zone. The flower boxes are in full bloom everywhere-so beautiful!

We are now at the Radison in Wiesbaden, our short overnight stop. It's a very nice hotel-too bad it's only one night!

Tomorrow is the last day of our tour! We have seen so much and it has felt like a long time, and yet it is hard to believe it's almost over! Time is such a strange thing! The tour has been amazing and we will miss the friends we have made.
