Good on ya, Mate!

As we say goodbye to our Australian friends, we take along many happy memories of great times together. We've learned a little about their culture and their country, but mostly their language. We can almost understand what they're saying now ! :)

Audio would be better, as so much is in the vowels (often add a y sound to them), but here are some Australianisms :

Good on ya- good for you, way to go
How ya goin? - How are you?
Like the British, everything is lovely
I reckon- I think
Macca's-McDonald's
Mozzie-mosquito
Lollie-candy
Dear-expensive
Jumper (jumpa)-sweater
Sloppy joe-hoodie
Bathers-swimsuit
Trolley-shopping cart
Grouse-awesome
No worries-no problem, but it can also mean "sure"
If you ask someone to meet you somewhere and they say "no worries" it means "yes"
Food is nioyce and beautiful, not good or delicious
They say "ya" a lot and slur the a with sort of an ay sound

We will miss them!
