Last Day on Tour

This morning started off cooler than comfortable, but thankfully it warmed up later in the day. Our first activity was a cruise along the Rhein River. The fog gave an enchanting look to the area, but made it hard to see a lot.

From there we drove to Amsterdam, a very unique city. The city is actually below sea level, which is why they have so many canals. They are quite clever at engineering the city and managed to reclaim some land that had flooded. People in Amsterdam are very health conscious, which shows in the number of bicycles there are. They are everywhere! Ten percent of bikes are stolen every year, even though almost everyone owns one. This is why they buy ugly cheap ones. They are also very tolerant of differences and accept others for who they are. Prostitution and drugs are legal because they are so accepting and think its not their business if someone wants to do those things. We had some free time in Amsterdam and then we took a boat ride along the canals, leading to our dinner location, which was Asian. Apparently Netherlands cuisine is pickled herrings- good decision not to go with that!

Today was our last day with the group. We are now on our own for our last three weeks.
